Erin Go Bragh!
Happy Saint Patrick's day.
17th of March and we all get green. Yes, we love Saint Patrick's day and those magic stories about the little people of the Emerald Island.
Saint Patrick's Day honors Saint Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland. Patrick brought Irish people to conversion into the Christian religion during the 4th century. He used the shamrock to explain the trinity of God, that's why the shamrock is a symbol for the Irish and also of good luck (the luck of the Irish.)
So, what shall we do today, as we are all Irish?
First let's cook an Irish breakfast: fried eggs, baked beans, sausages, bacon, white pudding and black pudding, some bread and butter and a steamy cup of comforting tea. (I will always remember my host mother Patricia's great Irish breakfast in Cork)
Then, let's work a bit about Ireland and its traditions.
Have a look into this workbook.
Take this quiz.

No, this is not the stone, the stone is somewhere a bit higher

BONFIRE NIGHT
November 5th is Bonfire Night in the UK. Bonfire Night is also known as Guy Fawkes Night.
People in the UK celebrate Bonfire Night because of the Gunpowder Plot. Bonfire Night is also celebrated in some other countries that used to be British colonies, such as New Zealand and parts of the Caribbean.
On November 5th, 1605, Guy Fawkes and his friends tried to blow up the Houses of Parliament. Their plan was known as The Gunpowder Plot. They failed, and Guy Fawkes and his friends were arrested. They were found guilty, and sentenced to death.
Many people in the UK build bonfires for Bonfire Night. They make life-sized Guy Fawkes dolls, dress them in old clothes, and throw them onto bonfires. Large firework displays are held in towns and cities.
Because fireworks can be very dangerous, it is against the law in the UK to sell fireworks to children.
